Summary
In the early 1900s, a Chicago laborer flees to the Texas Panhandle with his girlfriend and younger sister, posing as siblings for work on a wealthy farmer's wheat harvest. When the farmer falls for the girlfriend, the laborer urges her to marry him, expecting the ailing landowner to die soon. The deception unravels as feelings, jealousy, and a plague of locusts converge on the golden plains.
