Summary
Francois Truffaut plays Ferrand, the director of Meet Pamela, an ordinary melodrama being shot at the Victorine studios in Nice, and the film follows the production rather than the picture. Ferrand manages Alphonse, a young leading man who cannot keep his love affairs out of the work; Julie Baker, an English star newly recovered from a breakdown and married to her older doctor; Severine, an aging actress who drinks and cannot get a door-and-dialogue take right; and Alexandre, awaiting a private arrival. Weather, insurance, a cat that will not hit its mark and a script girl's exit all threaten the schedule.
