Summary
Fernando Di Leo's Milan crime film, drawn from Giorgio Scerbanenco, opens with Ugo Piazza walking out of prison three years after $300,000 vanished from a courier chain he was part of. The gang he used to work for, an ageing boss known as the Americano and Rocco, the enforcer who has been torturing everyone else connected to the money, is certain Ugo took it and hires him back mainly to keep him in sight. Ugo says almost nothing, moves back in with his girlfriend Nelly, a nightclub dancer, and lets himself be followed around a city where two policemen argue over whether crime comes from criminals or from capital. An early poliziottesco, scored by Luis Bacalov with the progressive rock band Osanna.
