Summary
In Laurens, South Carolina, in the mid-1990s, Mike Burden is a repo man and Ku Klux Klan member raised by Klan leader Tom Griffin, who has just converted the town's old movie theatre into a 'Redneck KKK Museum' and shop. Mike's relationship with Judy, a single mother who wants nothing to do with the Klan, pushes him to break with the only family he has known, a decision that costs him his job, his home and the protection of his former brothers. Reverend David Kennedy, a Black pastor organising protests against the museum, is left deciding whether to shelter him. Andrew Heckler's American drama, starring Garrett Hedlund and Forest Whitaker, is based on real events in Laurens.
