Summary
After his girlfriend dumps him for the captain of the ski team, depressed high schooler Lane Meyer makes increasingly absurd attempts to win her back or end it all. As he contends with a deranged paperboy, a bizarre family, and a relentless drag-racing rivalry, he finds unexpected hope in Monique, a French exchange student staying next door.
