Summary

Benny is a hardworking auto mechanic who cares for his mentally ill sister Joon. Their routine is upended when an eccentric, silent-film-obsessed drifter named Sam moves in after Joon wins him in a poker game. As Sam and Joon fall in love, Benny struggles to let go and accept that his sister can live her own life.

Released in 1993, Benny & Joon is a comedy, drama and romance film.

Its in-cohort standing is measured against the other 4,081 1990s films, not against the whole corpus. 126 IMDb reviewers are calibrated for this title, and those are the ones the calibrated score reads; a separate, broader pool of 135 reviewers with at least two reviews each feeds the raw-average track. A second review pool sits behind it as well: 5,506 Rotten Tomatoes reviewers clear the same calibration test, and Rankquant scores them separately.
