Summary
In 1560, a Spanish conquistador expedition descends from the Andes into the Amazon jungle in search of the legendary golden city of El Dorado. When a scouting party is sent ahead, the ruthless second-in-command Don Lope de Aguirre leads a mutiny and pushes the doomed group deeper down the river, his ambition curdling into madness as hunger, hostile arrows, and the wilderness pick them off one by one.
